What should I blog about is a really common question when people first start blogging or when writers block sets in. And to be honest there is no single answer here as every blog is different.

Another great way to engage your readers and get more blog traffic is encourage your readers to subscribe to your RSS feed. Once they do that they will receive notification whenever you have a new blog post and it can lead to more returning visitors. A really easy way make this easy for yourself and your reader is using a service called Feed Burner. It’s also free to use and just takes a few minutes to set up.

Just adding posts to your blog will not be of any help if you don’t track it regularly. It is necessary to track the performance of your blog on a regular basis so that you can keep making modifications to it as and when necessary. In order to do this, you can get your Development verified with the Google Webmaster Tool and also use Google Analytics to analyze the data.

Don’t limit to your blog posts to content only. Only content that needs to be read can bore your visitors. Mix up your posts with other media like images and videos.

An essential part in making your blog powerful is an editorial calendar. It is like a planner or task scheduler where you can see the overview of your blog. Blog content should be well-planned and managed and an editorial calendar can help you control and map out your content strategy. Better to create a year-long calendar then divide and spread your tasks through it. You can always update it as needed. Your random notes in your notebook may do for a start but you may want to level it up by adapting a digital one. Templates and plugins for this are conveniently available online blogs.

The most successful blogs are interactive and engaging. Readers are encouraged to leave comments and other readers may respond to these comments creating an interactive environment.

The best place to add the blog would be to the blog page on your site. It is after all, valuable content so why would you want it anywhere other than your site. If however, you don’t have a website or you would rather set up a separate blogger account, you can do so, perhaps using the WordPress Blog Account or a Google Blogger Account, which you can then link back to your site. There are various blogging sites out there, so just make sure its relevant and respected before adding, but, as we always say, content is King, so your website should benefit from a blogs content over and above any other website.
