Many people are excited about the idea of starting their own website or blog. A website or a blog is a set of related pages that contain text, images, audio and video. All websites have a homepage which is the address that you use to find out more about a person, product, company or organization. A blog on the other hand is a site used to input information to elicit a discussion. Good blogs provide a comment section where your readers can give feedback on topics you have written about. Interactive blogs can be used as a social networking tool. Bloggers have the task not only to provide information but also to build social relations with other readers and bloggers.

Every blog needs a description. Just as your domain name and title gives your visitor a hint about your blog, “your page description gives an insight on what your blog is all about”. The page description appears directly below your blog title on search engines before your domain link. Practice have shown that it is best to keep your blog page’s description in three (3) sentences and ensure that the keyword phrase from your blog title appears at least twice in your blog description.

In this section, you need to describe the aim of your visit my website, its short and long-term goals, its vision and mission statement; and the blog ‘s growth strategy.

As previously explained, informative online blogs such as ‘how to’ or ‘top tips’ guides are always popular. Try to break down the content into number or bullet points to create an easy to read, more aesthetically pleasing piece. Readers prefer bite sized pieces of information over and above long paragraphs of text. Images are also beneficial in a blog. Anything to keep the reader’s attention.

Length, keep it long, but not too long. Make the article long enough to get your point across and get into detail, add more over time to keep the lens fresh, however do not make the article too long as it will bore the readers and you will not include the main details. Ten detailed lenses are better than fifty short un-informing lenses, you can also come back to a lens to keep it up- to- date with fresh information. A good length is 500 words the minimum should be at least 300 but I would recommend more so you have the right amount of detail but don’t bore your audience. If you feel as if your lens is too short you can add more at a later date but if your lens is too long you can break it up into smaller parts- for easier reading.

The last step to developing a strong brand for your blog is to create your own interaction style with readers. How close do you want the bond between you and the readers to be? How often will you interact with them? Will you interact only on your blog? Or you will follow Pat Flynn’s “Being Everywhere” strategy? Will your preferred interaction platform be Facebook or Twitter? Will you use social media to enhance the promotion of your brand? Only you can decide that.

Make Money Online blog readers are tech savvy. They know about twitter, they know about RSS feeds, and they know about podcasts. Therefore giving you more options to communicate posts to your readers.
